If you have scabs and uneven chicken pox scars on your face and body you may also want to treat the scabs on the face to prevent scarring and make any marks more unnoticeable

> Chicken Pox Scar Removal Treatment. Click here

Varicella (chickenpox), a highly contagious disease, is characterized by fluid-filled skin blisters that open and crust over as the symptoms progress. Usually, the treatment is not required for healthy individuals. For those who are at a higher risk to serious complications, antiviral drugs are used for the treatment of varicella

Varicella, commonly referred to as chickenpox, is an infectious disease caused by varicella zoster virus (VZV). It commonly affects the kids under 10 years. Varicella is highly contagious; virus can be transmitted from an infected person to another through the direct contact with skin blisters or through inhalation of respiratory secretions of an infected person. An infected individual remains contagious from 2 days prior to appearance of skin rash until all blisters turn into dry scabs. Those with a compromised immune system are at a higher risk of VZV infection than others.

Sometimes chicken pox can leave scars although this doesn’t often happen in younger people

Varicella (Chickenpox): Symptoms

The incubation period of varicella is about 10-20 days. During this period, the infected person manifests the flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, abdominal pain and sore throat.

Early signs of varicella start with itchy skin rash, particularly on the face, back and abdomen. Within 2-3 days, the rash progresses and spreads to all parts of the body.

The rash appears as small red bumps that resembles pimples. These bumps develop into small fluid-filled blisters (size less than quarter of an inch), which consist of VZV. Initially, the fluid is clear and transparent, which turns cloudy afterwards.

Blisters then open within a few days and crust over forming dry scabs. Chickenpox usually heals without scarring the skin within 8-10 days after the onset of symptoms.

It is observed that varicella symptoms are severe in adults in comparison to kids. However, kids with skin disorders like eczema may develop severe symptoms.

> Chicken Pox Scar Removal Treatment. Click here

Pregnant women and those with a weakened immune system are susceptible to severe health complications of varicella. On an average one out of every 50 varicella patients develop serious complications such as varicella pneumonia and encephalitis.

Varicella (Chickenpox): Diagnosis and Treatment

Varicella is diagnosed based on the appearance of the skin rash and medical history of the patient

In order to rule out other skin disorders, the physician may recommend viral culture. Healthy children and adults recover from varicella without any treatment. Antiviral drugs may be prescribed to prevent serious complications. For the effective treatment, antiviral medications are given within 24 hours after the onset of skin rash.

The most common lotion used for chicken pox is Calamine lotion. This or any similar over-the-counter preparation can be applied to the blisters to help dry them out and soothe the skin

Over-the-counter drugs for reliving itching in the form of antihistamines can be administered under medical supervision. Home treatments like wet compresses on the affected skin, regular cleaning with soap and lukewarm water and cotton clothing soothe the itching rash.

An infection by VZV can be prevented by vaccinating the kids with chickenpox vaccine. Vaccination is effective in 70-90 percent cases. First vaccine is usually given between 12 to 15 months and next booster between 4-6 years. Those above 13 years who never had varicella before should get two doses of the vaccine, under the prescription of a qualified physician.

Shingles

> Shingles Treatment Click here

In general, those who have primary infection with VZV are immune to further onset of the same disease. However, in some cases, the virus remains in a dormant state within the nerve cells. If the virus reactivates after several years, then it leads to a severe condition known as shingles (zoster).

About 20 percent people with primary infection develop shingles later. An individual having shingles can spread the virus and cause varicella to those who have had not varicella before. Routine immunization of shingles vaccine prevents the reactivation of VZV virus.<!-- This page was viewed on Buzzle.com on 9/21/2009 6:22:49 AM.
Chickenpox is a common illness among kids, particularly those under age 12. Chickenpox is caused by a virus called the varicella-zoster virus (varicella is the medical name for chickenpox).

> Heal chicken Pox scars! Find out more here

Chickenpox spreads in tiny droplets of saliva and nasal mucus, by sneezes and coughs from an infected person. The virus is already in these droplets, which is why it spreads so fast.

Chickenpox causes a red, itchy rash on the skin that usually appears first on the abdomen or back and face, and then spreads to almost everywhere else on the body, including the scalp, mouth, nose, ears, and genitals.

The rash begins as dual tiny, crimson bumps that seem like pimples or worm bites. They produce into thin-walled blisters filled with clear-cut fluid, which becomes cloudy.

The blister fence breaks, leaving available sores, which eventually crust over to get arid, brown scabs.

> Heal chicken Pox scars! Find out more here

Chickenpox blisters are normally little than a fourth of an inch wide, have a crimson home, and seem in bouts over 2 to 4 days. Chickenpox is extremely infectious and is scattered through the atmosphere when contaminated folk cough or sneeze, or through physiological links with fluid from lesions on the rind. Chickenpox is seldom deadly (normally from varicella pneumonia.

With pregnant women and those with a suppressed immune system being more at risk. Chickenpox occurs in approximately three in every 1,000 pregnancies, and can cause serious complications for both you and your child.

The most common complication of chicken pox is shingles, this is most frequently a late effect.

> Safe and Effective treatment for Shingles. Click here

Chickenpox is a mild illness, but can affect some infants, teens, adults, and people with weak immune systems more severely. Some people can develop serious bacterial infections involving the skin, lungs, bones, joints, and the brain (encephalitis). People with a weak immune system, such as those with acute or chronic leukaemia or HIV.

A chickenpox vaccine can help prevent most cases of chickenpox. If you or your child is in pain, or has a fever, then you can give them a mild painkiller, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. The antiviral medicine acyclovir may be prescribed for people with chickenpox who are at risk for complications. Avoid scratching the blisters because of the risk of infection. Using cool wet compresses or giving baths in cool or lukewarm water every 3 to 4 hours for the first few days. Never use aspirin to reduce pain or fever in children with chickenpox because aspirin has been associated with the serious disease Reye syndrome.

What is the best treatment for chicken pox scars?

Chicken pox doesn’t usually leave scars behind when it eventually heals although it sometimes can, the condition produces lots of scabbing throughout the duration of the infection.

So treatment for chicken pox scarring is not usually necessary and scabbing can be kept to a minumum by rubbing with vitamin E oil or honey and including foods in your diet which are rich in vitamin K like leafy vegetables and tomaotoes.

Where scarring can happen is when the blisters that form, which are very itchy, are scratched and then may become infected. In this case scarring may develop

> Heal chicken Pox scars! Find out more here

Keeping the scabs clean, for example by rinsing with salt water or dabbing with liquid colloidal silver can reduce the risk. Honey is also a natural remedy which is often used to remove scars. other remedies for removing scars in general can also be applied to chicken pox scar treatment.

Though the name is rather odd, chickenpox is a very common and highly contagious disease that is often called one of the classic children’s diseases, because so many people contract it during their childhood. Chickenpox can be transmitted by direct contact as well as by airborne transmission.

> Chicken pox scar and blemish removal. Find out more here

There are several rare but serious complications that can arise as a result of the disease. These require immediate medical attention. The best method for avoiding chickenpox is immunization by a medical staff member.

The most common initial chickenpox symptoms are fever, headache, stomach ache, and loss of appetite, followed by an itchy rash of blisters generally lasting for 2 to 4 days. The rash usually consists of many small, itchy, fluid-filled blisters that begin to appear on the face and consequently spread until they cover the torso and scalp, and eventually the arms and legs. It is the blisters on the scalp that strongly indicate chickenpox is the cause.

> Chicken pox scar and blemish removal. Find out more here

Normally after a day or two, the blisters develop a cloudy appearance, and then become scab-covered sores. Simultaneously, new waves of blisters continually appear and develop following the same life-cycle. Chickenpox blisters can and often do appear in the mouth, in the vagina, and even on the eyelids.

Children who suffer from other skin problems, like eczema or who have had a recent sunburn, may develop more than 1,500 chickenpox blisters. However, absent these skin conditions, normally approximately 250-500 blisters develop. Generally, scars will not remain once the chickenpox has healed unless the blisters become infected with bacteria as a result of scratching.

If scab scars remain they can be treated with scar remedies

Although the majority of people recover from chickenpox without suffering any serious symptoms or complications, a small minority of people do contract serious complications.

The various rare complications from chickenpox include:
* Pneumonia    * Encephalitis
* Secondary infection of the blisters and scarring of the skin if the sufferer scratches the blisters
* Reye’s syndrome   * Transient arthritis   * Myocarditis  * Cerebellar ataxia
* Severe infection of the newborn baby if they are exposed to the disease and their mothers are not immune
* Infection of the fetus by mothers infected with chickenpox.

Between 4,000 and 9,000 persons are hospitalized as a result of chickenpox in the United States each year. Additionally, up to 100 people die as a direct result of the disease or related complications. Newborn babies, adults, and people with weakened immune systems have the highest risk of associated complications.

Despite the fact that adults make up fewer than 5% of chickenpox cases in the United States, they make up half of the chickenpox-related deaths. So please do not underestimate this disease next time you hear someone has it. And examine ways to prevent catching chicken pox and scars before it occurs

Chicken pox is generally known as the children’ s disease.

Adults can catch chicken pox as well, but usually only the ones that have not had chicken pox when they were children.

Doctors refer to chicken pox as varicella, which is a very contagious medical condition.

If you have contact with a person that has chicken pox, it will take about two weeks for you to get infected as well. This is known as the incubation period of chicken pox.

> Chicken pox scar removal treatment! Find out more here

After only a couple of days from infection, a rash will appear on your body. This is the incipient form of chicken pox. Afterwards, the rash turns into blisters, which in turn burst and ultimately scab over. Winter and spring are the most likely season to develop chicken pox.

Besides the rash that you get on your skin when suffering from chicken pox, there are also some other symptoms that might indicate that you have been infected. If you have a slight fever, for no apparent reason, or if you suffer from a headache, you can blame these conditions on chicken pox. If you have been infected with chicken pox, do not expect this disease to disappear in a few days. From the first signs of chicken pox, you will probably be sick almost a month. However, there are chicken pox cases where the patients will suffer no more than ten days. The usual chicken pox cases last about two and a half weeks.

The first sign of chicken pox, as I have mentioned earlier is a rash that appears on your skin. Your chest and the upper part of your back are the first places that the tiny and red spots will appear at first. If you are one of those people that suffer from a severe case of chicken pox, then your face and the extremities of your body will also be covered by the rash. These little spots will soon become blisters, which eventually form scabs. Scabs is the last stage of chicken pox.

There is more than one case for chicken pox.

The most common is a virus called herpes zoster. Because chicken pox is highly contagious, if you have contact with the blisters that are broken, you will get infected as well, that is of course, if you have not had chicken pox before.

> Chicken pox scar removal treatment! Find out more here

A weak immune system can also put you more at risk of developing chicken pox.
