It’s red, swollen, and it hurts. Is it a zit or a boil?

Dead skin and oil has clogged a hair follicle which indicates boils are similar to zits and pimples. Zits are caused by a different bacteria than that which causes a boil. One wants to find a cure for boils quickly when they get a boil that is red, inflamed and filled with puss.

Cure for boils to try at home:

Apply a warm damp cloth to the area three to four times a day for about 20 minutes. This helps the puss come to the surface and relieves the pain. Clean the area once the boil starts to drain making sure to apply a topical antibacterial lotion.

Turmeric paste can help. The area should be cleaned then a paste of Turmeric and water or milk can be made. Apply the paste to the boil and then cover with a bandage. Draining the boil can happen by using the paste, which will also help with pain relief. Your skin may turn a bit yellow do not worry, it is from the turmeric and you will notice it fades away within the week.

You can also drink Turmeric. Mix 8 oz. of warm water with one teaspoon of Turmeric and drink up. Try this three times a day.

Tea tree oil is easy to apply on the boil and offers another cure for boils. Do this daily until the boil is gone. Clean your skin, but do not cover the boil if using tea tree oil. Tea trea oil is toxic if ingested.
